The up+running team is led by David Wornham from the Bristol Business School at the University of the West of England (UWE), one of the UK's leading new universities. The University has a lively research culture, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research and an established reputation for carrying out research for and with the business community. Having enjoyed a period of sustained growth, the University is now a significant local employer and contributor to the local economy.

Building on the academic excellence of the University and combining that with knowledge of business in the region, David has launched an accredited educational programme for anyone new to business. The result is up+running, a proven package of support for all new and young businesses, and self-employed people in the wider community. up+running links education, mentoring and the opportunity to gain the Certificate in Small Business Management. And the programme is available for any new business owner in the South West area.
